Police in St. Paul, Minnesota, are arresting journalists trying to cover protests taking place at the Republican Convention. There are very few circumstances in which arresting a journalist covering a story in the United States would be warranted. The protestors in question may or may not have been acting illegally. However, I cannot imagine how covering such actions would warrant the arrest of the covering journalist. If so, this is intimidation, pure and simple, and must be stopped.
Those arrested include Democracy Now journalist Amy Goodman and two of her producers. Information on the arrests can be found on the Democracy Now web site.
FreePress.net has a petition on the web to attempt to have all charges dropped against journalists already arrested. If you have interest in signing, you can find it here.

Addition: Credo Action has an e-mail drive going here to try to get corporate media (CNN, NBC) to cover this story.
