Jason Collins: Stanford Proud

My sister first clued me in to the Sports Illustrated article by Jason Collins.  Collins came out in the article making him the first openly gay active player in any of four major professional male sports leagues in the United States.  She did so with the link:  #StanfordProud.  Most appropriate.

I hope that Collins is pleasantly surprised by the reaction of fans and players alike.  We shall see.  I wish him the best and thank him for his courage.

And to his fellow gay professional athletes I say, "Don't make him stand alone."

A Logo by Any Other Name

The Huffington Post had a funny post regarding logos for organizations that may not first bring to mind their associated businesses.  It is LOL funny, but perhaps not for work.

"Pork" Pepper Helmet

One of my colleagues has a guinea pig for which she recently did some tailoring during the creation of a snack.  While I'm generally against dressing up animals, this is pretty cute.

MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS

My sister sent me a link to a short film -- or some would say music video -- celebrating marriage equality.  Titled Same Love, it is by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

My sister sent it with the following comment.  "I know you've probably heard the Thrift Shop song to death, but this new one you'd really like.  Such a great song!"

There are several issues here.  First, I had no idea who Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are.  Second, after finding Thrift Shop on YouTube, I quickly determined that I'd never before heard it.   Third, while I've probably been old for a long time, I think it may have just become official!  :-/

My sister always was cooler than I am.

Lyrics warning on the second if you have children near.

Penny for Your Thoughts

The Huffington Post featured pieces from pilots from hit shows that remained unaired.  In many cases, an alternate pilot was created and shown, but the original remained unseen.  Some were rewritten, some were recast, some had both changes made.  Some examples:

Big Bang Theory

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (complete pilot, alternate Willow)

Family Guy
