Two Baby Elephants in a Kiddie Pool

I have to quote Urlesque's Christine Friar in her post Two Baby Elephants in a Kiddie Pool:

This sells itself.

If you need me to tell you why watching a video of two precious baby elephants splashing around in an inflatable pool is cute, you need to take a step back and reassess your priorities as a human being.

The trunks! The tiny ears! The goofy fart noise their skin makes when it rubs up against the plastic siding!

Amazing Piano Player

From the story at the Huffington Post:

To play the piano well is a challenge in and of itself. Pianists study diligently for years and consider themselves students even well into illustrious careers. But to play the piano lyrically and beautifully with a physical impairment shows even more dedication and willpower.

This young Chinese girl performs Richard Clayderman's "Souvenirs d'enfance," on what looks to be a talent-search style TV show, with no fingers on her right hand. If this doesn't inspire you to quit sweating the small stuff, we're not sure what will.

Rush Limbaugh is a Bad Guy

It has been said that Rush Limbaugh is a big, fat idiot.  This is true.  His world view is roughly 180 degrees not just from correct, but from right.  My take on his fans has included anger, but with a healthy dose of sadness and disbelief mixed in.  However, after Limbaugh has mocked those who have recently suffered through the earthquakes and tsumami in Japan and wondered if environmentalists would cheer the quake and its resulting carnage, my take is different.  My view of him remains unchanged -- he is a worthless piece of garbage.  My view of his followers, however, has hardened.  You cannot be a fan of Rush Limbaugh -- you cannot even think it is okay to listen to him because some of what he says is correct -- and be a moral person.  The two are simply incompatible.  If you want to think that some of what he says is correct, fine.  You are likely incorrect about this, but I am wrong about things, too.  However, there is no defense for helping to perpetuate his cult of personality.

None.

"Five Things Everyone Should Know About The Bible"

From the Huffington Post, comes a post with this title by Kristin M. Swnson, PhD.  The first paragraph reads:

The Bible is a peculiar book, and it's hard to get straight information about it. If you're one of those people with a nagging feeling that you should know more about the Bible than you do -- or even if you can recite chapter and verse (but don't know that those chapters and verses come from a 13th century archbishop of Canterbury and a 16th century Parisian, respectively) -- then these five basic things will catapult you to a new level of biblical literacy. Though I might be handing you clunky corrective eyewear instead of sexy kitten glasses, I promise that they will change the way you look at the Good Book, clarifying and focusing your understanding.

Flight of the Penguins!

From the Huffington Post:

On a Southwest flight from San Francisco to San Diego on March 12th, a group from SeaWorld was transporting penguins to a convention in the southern California city and decided to let them have a little free time while mid-air.

An in-air tutorial on the adorable species continued over the plane's loud speaker as the penguins took over the flight.

My wife loves Penguins.  Why wasn't she on this plane?

Saving PBS & NPR

With Republicans in Congress seeking to defund PBS and NPR, I wanted to show an appearance by Mr. Rogers before Congress when Nixon tried to slash funding four decades ago.  Mercy, but that man's voice just takes one back to childhood!

Mr. Rogers was victorious then.  Let's hope that America is as lucky today.  You can help via campaigns such as this one from FreePress.

Baseball Flowchart

My sister sent me a funny, oddly correct flowchart describing the leagues.

Wisconsin, Pitch Perfect

As usual, it is left to Jon Stewart to explain, in no uncertain terms, exactly what the real lay of the land is.  This time, the topic is the fake budget showdown in Wisconsin.  Sad, funny stuff!

Stephen Colbert also did a nice job of undermining -- e.g. telling the truth about -- Fox News "coverage" of the Wisconsin protests.
