At the beginning of this year, the US found itself in a military quagmire in Iraq, caught between parties in civil war, with no political solution remotely in sight. President Bush announced a troop surge to combat these obstacles. Last night, he appeared on television to announced that the cost paid thus far has been worth it. In that time, military statistics indicate that 762 service men and women have been killed in Iraq.
