Lupita Nyong’o Reflects on Beauty

In the latest film award season, no one has looked better or been more celebrated for her beauty than Lupita Nyong’o.  Each and every time that I have seen her photo, she has looked radiant, confident, and classy.  And so it was with great interest that I found this short speech presented by Nyong’o at a Black Women in Hollywood event.  It is a sad reflection on humanity that this woman could have ever thought herself anything other than beautiful and it is a triumph of humanity that she now recognizes that she is beautiful.  That she understands that her beauty inside is far more important than that which we see in those photos is all the better.  Watch the speech.

Slopestyle, meet Bashluge

After less than a week of the winter Olympics, I'm officially over the term "slopestyle."  I find these events to be equal parts amazing and ridiculous.  The skiing seems cooler than the snowboarding if only because landing on skis backwards seems way, way cooler.

Today, I am officially prognosticating that the next wacky sport in the Olympics will be a mixture of luge and curling.  So, too, am I coining the term "bashluge."  You heard it here first.
